The two Nokia models
are among the first smartphones globally to roll out the Android 9 Pie
HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, has announced the roll out of Android 9 Pieon EISA’s Consumer Smartphone of the Year, the Nokia 7 Plus. Fans in Malaysia will start to receive Android 9 Pie on their Nokia 7 Plus in phases throughout October 2018 while users of the Nokia 6.1 Plus have started receiving the update through Nokia phones beta labs. Early adopters will be able to provide direct feedback to Android after testing the beta version of the new update.
Packed with Google’s
intuitive software, and only the most essential apps loaded, the Nokia 7 Plus
and Nokia 6.1 Plus serve up Android 9 Pie with no bloatware, skins UI changes or hidden processes eating
up your battery life. This upgrade builds upon the strong features of
Android 8.0 Oreo™,and focuses on a more tailored experience with emphasis on
AI, machine learning, and digital well being.
The Nokia 7 Plus powered
by Android 9 Pie creates the
most efficient Nokia smartphone yet.Advances in machine learning and AI
features - such as Adaptive Battery and App Actions - ensure smarter resourcing
of power and processing, bringing about an accelerated smartphone functionality.
For the Nokia 6.1 Plus, which was launched in Malaysia recently,
users can try out these set of features by registering yourself on Nokia phones beta labs.
Vijay
Thangavelu, Country Manager (Malaysia and Myanmar), HMD Global, said: “We are excited to announce that the much anticipated
Android 9 Pie update is now available on the Nokia 7 Plus whereas Nokia 6.1
Plus users now have access to the beta version. While the update is scheduled
to roll out to all other Nokia Android One models in the upcoming months, we
are delivering our promise for our consumers to receive pure, secure, and
up-to-date Android on Nokia smartphones. Android 9 Pie puts AI at the core of
the operating system with added focus on intelligence simplicity and digital
well being. We believe this update will add value to the everyday lives of our
consumers.”
As part of the Android One family, the Nokia 7 Plus and
Nokia 6.1 Plus will introduce App Actions
– a new feature unique to Android One
devices and Google Pixel phones running Android 9 Pie.App Actions learns more about your daily usage and assists you
with your everyday tasks. Your Nokia smartphone will predict and recommend your
next action at the moment it is needed the most -whether it is business, music
or lifestyle.
The Nokia 7Plus and
Nokia 6.1 Plus are optimised to extract every bit of juice from the already
powerful battery. With Adaptive Battery, Android 9 Pie uses deep learning
to understand patterns in phone usage and prioritises battery power for apps
that are important to you.
As well as smart
technology advances, the new update will come with added Digital Well being features
to help encourage breaks from screen time.New functionalities include highlighting
device time on your Dashboard, the ability to set time limits for app usage and
Wind Down Mode which fades your
phone to gray scale and activates Do Not Disturb at a predetermined time in the
evening. Nokia smartphones have long encouraged digital downtime - with the
inclusion of Nokia 3310 and 8110 to our range - supporting time off from
scrolling.
